Rotary Day 2017-18

The Rotary Day was celebrated on 8 April 2018 starting with a peace walk. Nearly 500 people participated - these included Rotarians, Interactors, Family and Friends of Rotary and the general public. All were dressed in traditional or international costumes. The walk commenced from the Leaning Tower in the town square and concluded in school hall. There the best dressed participants were selected and given hampers. The children had a colouring competition and the winners were given awards. Free health screening was provided, and the local hospital had a blood donation drive and registration for organ donation. All the participants had an opportunity to view the projects done by the club and learn about promoting peace in themselves, in their community and the world. The project was covered by the local press and appeared in three newspapers. It was appreciated by the local member of Parliament who was the guest of honour.
