On 20 October 2021 the Rotary Club of Teluk Intan held the 70th changeover on Zoom.

The event was attended by 90 Rotarians, Interactors and family of Rotary. Members from our sister clubs – Rotary Club of Yala, Thailand, Rotary Club of Southbank, Australia and the Rotary Club of Bangalore South Parade, India joined the meeting.

The outgoing President Subas Bully Baboo installed Rotarian Balajawahar Ponnambalam as the 70th President of the Rotary Club of Teluk Intan. The activities carried out in last Rotary Year are in the Souvenir Magazine 2020 - 2021 which is posted in the website under "Information"

In his inaugural speech President Balajawahar Ponnambalam, quoted Martin Luther King who said that "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". The COVID-19 pandemic has created a unique crisis for Rotarians and has disrupted our lives. We must now get used to words such as social distancing, self-quarantines, lockdowns and virtual online meetings. As the incoming President, I will endeavour to instil confidence in my members and leverage on their experiences, strengths and manage their expectations in this challenging environment. We will rise up to the challenges and discover new ways to serve the community. My vision and mission will be in line with the Rotary International's theme that is, to serve to change lives. As the pandemic sweeps across the world causing fear and worry, I will also focus on educating the community on mental health resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. As I belong to the 3rd generation of planters in my family, I intend to impact climate change by organizing a tree planting project in my community.

The keynote speakers were Honourable Mr. Terence Naidu, Elected Representative to the Perak Legislative Assembly and District Governor Bindi Rajasegaran
