Dr Rajindar Singh was born in 1949 in Ipoh and joined the Rotary Club of Teluk Intan on 1st September 1989. He obtained his Medical degree (MBBS) in 1974, and his postgraduate qualifications (MRCOG) from London in 1985. In 1998 he was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG), London. He was also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia.

He was married to Surendra Kaur, who is a retired Hospital Administrator. They have four children and four grandchildren. All their children were Interactors and one was a Rotaractor. Surendra is a Past District Secretary, Past Assistant Governor, Past President & member of the Rotary Club of Teluk Intan. Their son, Amritpal Singh is a Past Assistant Governor, Past President & member of Rotary Club of Brighton North, Australia (District 9800).

Dr Rajindar served in a number of Public Hospitals and was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Head of Department in Teluk Intan Hospital in 1986. In 1991 he established his own private hospital (Pusat Pakar Rajindar Singh | Rajindar Singh Maternity Center) and retired from practise in 2021.

He served as the President of the Rotary Club of Teluk Intan in 1992-93, as Assistant Governor in 1995-96 & 2002-03, as the District Governor in 2008-09, District Trainer in 2011-12, District Rotary Foundation Chair in 2013-16 and District Membership Chair in 2017-20.

Throughout his term of office as President, many innovative projects were carried out to serve the people of Teluk Intan. Some of the notable projects were:

  • Hepatitis B screening programme
  • Career Fair
  • Donation of 150 pairs of spectacles for the visually handicapped and poor children in respective schools
  • Pride of Workmanship awards for outstanding employees of the Teluk Intan local courts
  • Taxi Shelters
  • Conducted short course in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation by collaborating with St. John's Ambulance

At the Zone level, he served as the Rotary Public Image Coordinator 2013-16, Vice Chair of the Taipei Rotary Institute 2017, Seoul Convention Deputy Regional Coordinator 2016, (GETS) Governors Elect Training Team Member in 2013-18 and District Trainers Training Team Leader in 2019.

At the International level he served as the International Assembly Training Leader in 2018-19, 2019-20 & 2020-21; District Representative to the Council on Legislation in 2019; Rotary International President’s Personal Representative to District 3110 Conference in Kanpur in 2018 and to District 3070 Conference in Jalandhar in 2019. He served as Chair of National PolioPlus Committee Malaysia. He was The Rotary Foundation Cadre of Technical Advisers and was the International Secretary of International Fellowship of Rotarian Doctors in 2012-21. He was the country chair of the Rotary Action Group for Population and Development. He was a member of the Advisory Board of Rotary’s CALMED Program (Collaborate Action in Lowering Maternity Encountered Deaths).

He was the Chairman of The Malaysian Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis Lower Perak Branch, and was a member of the State Liaison Committee of the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation.

Dr. Rajindar and Surendra have attended more than ten Rotary International Conventions and have travelled extensively building bridges of friendship with many Rotary Clubs around the world. They have hosted numerous Group Study Exchange team members and International Youth Exchange members.

He was a recipient of Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service.

Dr. Rajindar and Surendra are level three Major Donor of The Rotary Foundation and members of the Paul Harris Society. He was a Patron of Yayasan Kelab Kelab Rotary Malaysia.

In recognition of his services His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak bestowed upon him the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP).
